The only thing holding it back is a way to "Key the mic" on the computer automatically when I talk back to it. The power is set on both radios to half a watt and they have the stock (crap) antennas fitted so the signal isn't available outside of my property boundary. I tried this set-up and have successfully managed to get the connected radio to transmit the received signal from the computer with no problems at all and can receive nicely on the other HT downstairs. Unfortunately neither Echolink or the AllStar transceiver have the VOX function or I would already have this working. Then anysound received by the connected radio would be picked up by the computer mic and that would activate the MOUSE CLICK, giving me the ability to transmit from around the house or garden without it being available to the wider world. I have 2 small hand held radios and if I connected one to the computer mic and speakers sockets with a crossover cable and set it to VOX, any sound that comes out of the computer is transmitted (again at a half a watt or less) to the other HT. I would like to know if anyone knows of any software or a script that would allow me to place the mouse on the PTT button on screen and when the microphone detects any sound would press the left mouse button and release it when no sound is heard for half a second or so acting like a VOX. When you use either Echolink or AllStar on the computer you can key up by either mouse click or key press. I only hold an M6 licence currently and with OFCOM stripping Intermediate NOVs soon I won't be able to have a Micronode or gateway until I get the Advance ticket. I use Echolink and AllStar Link and would like to be able to use them from downstairs or in the garden. ![]()
